Anybody have good recipies/advice for cooking tofu?

I am a vegetarian and have been for years. I love eating tofu in dishes at restaurants, but whenever i have tried to cook it on my own, it doesn’t turn out. What consistency of tofu should I use for what kind of dish? Also, any favorite, tried-and-true recipies would be great. Thanks!

I’m kind of old fashioned, and one of my favorite ways to hang out with my friends (I’m in highschool) is to invite them over for dinner with my family, where I’m usually cooking. Unfortunantely, my school is very diverse, with people of all different beliefs (Religious and lifestyle). I have a very good friend of the Hindu faith, and one of them made the obvious point (that I of course failed to see) that she’s vegetarian. I am VERY VERY far away from vegetarian– I hate veggies (I wish I liked them, and I’m always trying them, but I can’t seem to swallow them).

Do you have any suggestions for recipies that may work with both of us? Or do you have ideas for a meal with several smaller dishes (I do not know if she’s tolerant of other people eating animal products around her)? All suggestions are appreciated.

OMG thank you guys! I made something original salmon mixed with lemon juice, mayonnaise, and fresh cut dill pickle on Ritz crackers. It is so good! thanks everyone for the great ideas.

I was going to cook a chicken pasta dish tonight for two, but I dont have any good recipies. I want to add mushrooms and squash to it yet making it have a creamyish texture (not very important though). I was wondering if any body had any good recipies with ingridents on them. Oh and a stuffed mushroom recipie would be nice too. Thanks.

I like Russian salads a lot but do not know how to make them.

I like the beets one and the one that has chichen breast and egg and I do not remember what else.

And another that had I think ham.
